How to Use Apple Watch Walkie Talkie Function

The Apple Watch has a feature called Walkie Talkie, which provides a convenient way to speak to your contacts using your wearable device.

If you’ve been using an Apple Watch for a while, you’re probably already familiar with the idea of making and receiving phone calls and FaceTime calls. This is typically piped through from your paired iOS device.

While this is already a convenient feature, not everyone wants to deal with two-way voice calls all the time.

Similar to radio communications, Apple Watch’s Walkie Talkie feature allows you to send voice messages to your contacts without having to expect a reply from them. This is a good way to relay a quick message or update your location.

If you don’t know about this feature yet, we’ve decided to make a guide on how to use the Walkie Talkie function of the Apple Watch.

Adding Contacts to Walkie Talkie

Before you can enjoy Apple Watch walkie talkie function, you’ll have to add your contacts first. Fortunately, this is an almost straightforward process and does not require complicated steps on your wearable.

Here’s what you need to do:

First, open your Apple Watch and tap on the “Walkie Talkie app” to launch it. Now, tap on the “Add Friends” option.

Select a contact from the list, and it should send them an invitation, which they need to accept on their end. This should appear as a notification on their Apple Watch, and once they agree, the contact will move from the “Friends You Invited” page to your “Friends list”.

Sending a Walkie Talkie Call

After adding your contacts to the Walkie Talkie app, you can now start sending voice chats to them using your Apple Watch.

Launch the “Walkie Talkie app” on your device and ensure that the toggle switch at the top of the window is set to the “On Setting”.

Disabling Walkie Talkie on Apple Watch

Although the Walkie Talkie feature on the Apple Watch is a fun and convenient feature, there are times when you’ll want to disable it. If the situation calls for you to disable the Walkie Talkie function, here’s what you need to do:

On your Apple Watch, access the “Control Center” by swiping downwards from the upper corner of the display. Now, locate the “Walkie Talkie” tab and tap on the toggle switch to turn off the feature.
