Apple Watch recently received a major software update that brings tons of new features to existing and new models. The new software features new watch faces, built-in applications, expanded Siri features, revamped Health app, and more.
watchOS 6 will be available for Apple Watch Series 3 and Watch Series 4. The new Series 5 comes with watchOS 6 installed already.
For users with Series 1 and 2, they will have to wait until later this year for watchOS 6.
One of the newest features of watchOS 6 is the hourly Taptic Chimes. This is a new feature that adds a fun way to be more in tune with what time it is. Besides the standard hourly chimes, users can also opt to receive alerts every 15 or 30 minutes.
If you want to try out this feature, we’ve got you covered.
For this guide, we have decided to make an in-depth guide on how to turn on chimes on Apple Watch.
Add Hourly Taptic Chimes
With watchOS 6, users can keep track of time without having to glance at their Apple Watch.
Here’s how they can enable hourly taptic chimes:
First, open the “Settings app” on your Apple Watch.
After that, swipe down and tap on “Accessibility”. Scroll down on your watch until you see the “Chimes” option. Tap the toggle switch at the top of the page to enable the feature.
Now, under “Schedule”, choose the interval of how often you want to receive timely updates. Under “Sounds”, you can select between Bells or Birds for the chime.
Once done, your Apple Watch is now set. Expect to receive taptic chimes based on the interval you’ve selected.
Adjust Apple Watch Volume
Depending on the situation, Taptic Chimes can be a saving feature, reminding you about an appointment, or a disturbance, like when you are in an important business meeting. Fortunately, there’s a way to adjust the volume of your Apple Watch.
To do this, access the “Settings app” on your Apple Watch. Now, scroll down and tap on “Sound & Haptics”.
From there, tap the “Volume Down button” to decrease the volume and the “Volume Up button” to increase it.
On the other hand, you can also tap the slider and turn the Digital Crown to adjust the volume.
Muting Your Apple Watch
On your Apple Watch, touch and hold the bottom of the watch face to access the “Control Center”.
Now, swipe upwards to expand the option.
Tap the “Silent Mode button” on the Control Center to enable Silent Mode. For this mode, you won’t hear any chimes from your watch, but you’ll still receive haptic notifications.
To silence an alert or notification as it sounds, you can rest your palm on the display for at least three seconds or until you feel haptic feedback. If this doesn’t work, you must enable “Cover to Mute” first.
On your iOS device, open the “Apple Watch app” and access “My Watch”. Now, tap on “Sound & Haptics” and ensure “Cover to Mute” is enabled.
